Corners of My House

I haven't done a corner of my house post in awhile so here goes...

We got son settled in for the night when he asked if he could read some books with his "special reading light". I'm always a soft sell for anything having to do with books so of course I not only said yes but brought him that cookie he's dunking into his milk.

When I was pregnant we painted son's room in the deeper honey yellow and then husband measured and taped off stripes to be painted in the glossy light yellow. I loved the look, so warm and cozy. Lately, the walls have gotten grubby - so I started putting his artwork and posters up on the walls in a haphazard scotch taped way. Now I kind of dig the look. I'm thinking that for the next incarnation of the big boy room we'll paint the base a dark tan. Then paint different size squares of magnetic chalkboard paint around the room. Then give those squares mismatched brightly colored frames. That way we can feature his work, and I can still feel all anal and tidy.

Furniture by Ikea, and his bedside drawer is filled with every happy meal toy he's ever gotten. The duvet and quilted pillows (with matching quilt not shown) are by ebay. You didn't think I could show you a corner that didn't involve ebay in some way did you?

I havent heard about the magnetic paint, either. Oh you know so much great one. Now I have ideas rolling around in my head for our hopefully-soon-to-be-done playroom.

I love the paint in his room. I love the stripes look, but hubby says, NO! I toyed with the idea of painting son's wall in camo, but really what can you do with that?

I love it. Can you come over and decorate House of Joy? I stink at that stuff.

Janet - Good to know! We made a super giant chalkboard for the playroom with regular paint and they love it so I'm excited to try the magnetic kind.

Jenny - What's a beergarita? Is it like a margarita with a beer chaser? Cause that's really all I need to live on.

Mommie - Do it!

Wendy - Do a dark and baby blue camo. That would be really cute and not so so hard core as the green camo!

OTJ - Sure...I know your tricks. Come on over to "decorate" Lotta. Next thing I know..Bow chicka Bow Bow!

His room looks great! My oldest daughter wants to redecorate her room, she's ready to get rid of the little girl pink.

too stinkin cute! I love the stripes! I had the idea to do some thing like this too-I was going to do a chair rail all around the room with different pegs, hooks for hanging on it, and put a couple random frames made from moulding in the middle of the chair rail and paint the inside with either the magnetic or chalkboard paint. But I think I like your idea better!
