Basement Blues With Earrings

I'm having kind of blue day. Nothing in particular, just thrown off because my basement has been destroyed by the flood. The basement is where I send my children when I need a minute alone. Which sounds really sadistic, but it was actually a nice playroom. Now it's just a concrete floor with moldy walls. So I can't send them down there anymore. Right? Darn. It's totally self indulgent of me to even wallow about it when there are people waving from their rooftops to be helicoptered to dry land. Well, hopefully they're not still there. But even so.

And last night I stayed up till the wee damn hour watching HBO's Carnivale, first season, on DVD. Trying to watch just one HBO show, when the whole series is at your fingertips, is like eating just one piece of warm caramel corn. Impossible. The show is set in the depression, and follows a creepy and mystical circus. If you liked the books Water For Elephants and Geek Love - then you'll enjoy this series. The problem is that being starved for alone time + great DVD = Lotta staying up till 2 AM watching TV. Not good for the old mood.

But I'm wearing some new earrings and they perk me up a bit. Well, not really. But I was trying to segway because they are really nice earrings and I wanted to post a link to the seller's shop. She was incredibly nice, which is always the bonus of buying on Etsy, and her earrings are totally gorgeous and perfect for fall. She's got them in black and white too, I think those are next on my wish list.

Those are great earrings, but I'm with you. Earrings have never made my day. Now wearing kick-ass shoes on the other hand??

Mama - Normally I would be all squealy about these since they are awesome. Maybe the mold is bringing me down.

Erika - Thanks! But I didn't make them. Check out that seller's store she has really nice things.

Gorgeous earrings, but I'm totally with you on the basement. We've had 3 shop vacs, 2 fans, and a dehumidifier running pretty much every weekend for the past 3-4 weeks. If it's not a hurricane, then it's plain old rain coming in now that the water table is so high. We had to evacuate the computer to our bedroom because the desk is rotting from sitting in a puddle. Yeah, we're blessed, but it still sucks to have to deal w/the water.

Thankfully, our dehumidifier took care of most of our water issues last week. I'm actually thinking I'll soon embark on making it into a play area as our house is under 900 square feet, and last winter was LONG with us on top of each other.
I hear ya on the DVD viewing, I could have easily used a catheter and watched the first season of 24 in 24 hours. I'll have to see if the library has Carnivale - I loved Geek Love.

Get that darned basement dried out somehow! The kids probably need it as much as you do.
Those earrrings really are great...trying to find the ones you want to buy on etsy is maybe harder than trying to watch just one hbo episode...there's so much talent there!
Don't answer me or ask questions here. I'm doing good to stop by once...a revisit is highly unlikely! :-p

Sweetie, bleach water the walls and send them down there with a basketball or something. Seriously. Your sanity is important. I lived without a basement for awhile...

Dagnabbit! You just made me make my first etsy purchase - love those ear-rings. I actually wanted your honeypot necklace, but saw that it was already taken. Can't wait till you make a new one.

Grrr... you've just FORCED me to buy your bird watcher earrings too. You're an evil woman. That's what I'm telling 'im indoors anyway - you MADE me do it.
