Big Bummer

It's that time again. Time for me to get really antsy and irritated. Why? Because my cheap ass doesn't have HBO and Big Love season 3 is on tonight. Gah! Best show ever and I can't watch it. I tried to download some torrents (don't do it) of the show. But ended up with a nasty virus, complete with a cackling demon that suddenly appeared on my screen.

I've thought about making a Sunday night HBO date with a friend. But I think it would be really awkward when the sex scenes came on. You don't really notice that stuff when you watch a show alone or with your husband. It's all, "Oh a Mormon penis. Pass the popcorn." But sitting by a girlfriend it would be odd. (I'm still confounded at how men can go to strip clubs in groups. I've asked husband to try and explain this phenomenon "So you all sit around the stage with boners?" To which he informed me that he hadn't had a "boner" since 8th grade and still never answered my question.)

Anyway, I'm frustrated about not being able to watch the polygamist. But not cause of the sex scenes. I could live another day without seeing Chet from Weird Science get it on. I'm fascinated by the idea that 3 women share the chores, grocery shopping and babysitting. It seems like a sweet deal. Especially if your husband owned a freaking Home Depot. Man. That's the life.

Watching it right now. No penis this episode.

Never seen it. Oh, and DirecTv has free HBO right now. Well, probably over NOW, but it was free this weekend (running and ducking). Sorry!

You know, we had HBO and I watched like all of season 1 OnDemand. Got hooked. Cancelled HBO and am pissed about it.
And then tonight, my girlfriend came over and advised that her cheap ass is going to her sister's place in the city to watch it and she had to get there early to OnDemand season 2 so she could catch up. That show actually makes me contemplate getting HBO again, BUT I'm thinking since I'm a whole season behind, maybe I should just rent it from the library or Netflix and catch up on Season 2 (which, let's face it, I would watch all in one sitting).
Sigh. I'm with you.

Not just THREE wives; there's a 4th one on the agenda! (I think it's a big mistake, but they never listen to me screaming at the screen.)

Nikki had one of her magnificent moments tonight. She loves to spend money, but she pulls off some great moments in times of panic.

Just FYI: Mormons are not polygamists. The family depicted on that show are not Mormons.

*snort* "Oh, a Mormon penis. Pass the popcorn." I think that's going to be my catchphrase for anything others think is exciting and I don't. This cracked me UP!

My cheap ass signed on for HBO for True Blood, Showtime for Big Love. I justified the expense by cutting out something else in my monthly budget, can't for the life of me remember what that was, lol.

I have Big Love recorded for future viewing when the stepkids aren't around. Wouldn't want to shock the little darlings with a Mormon penis!

How timely....I've been thinking about getting season 1 and starting up, it looks really good and I love Chloe Sevigney (or however you spell her last name).

I've never missed an episode and I've yet to see a penis (on the show, that is) but even so; I think you should work on the tv date night idea with a friend. You NEED to watch the show while the rest of us do, probably about as much as you need to leave the house by yourself once in a while!
Have a great day. :-)

You know what? I feel exactly the same way about Big Love. I wish I had HBO too...

Give www.surfthechannel.com a try. No viruses. Might not have every episode, but it's pretty good on popular stuff.

I have had the same thoughts about "communal" living - and Big Love (LOVE that show). I'm thinking about buying up 3 houses in Nomansland, Nebraska, knocking down the fences and making one big back yard, and having my two closest friends and their families join us for some good old-fashioned polygamist style community living. Without the polygamy, of course. Shall I include you and make it 4 houses?

No way!!!! That's too many kids to have to watch when somebody needs alone time. And forget about the cooking!!!

This is the first season that I'm missing since I gave up the movie channels. I haven't missed the premium shows until now.

I just finished watching season 1 on dvd and can't wait until I can afford season 2, and then of course I'll be anxiously waiting for a year or so until season 3 comes out on dvd so I can wait until I can afford that. I think it would be great to only have to put up with your husband every 3rd night, never mind someone else doing some of the cooking and cleaning that I don't do anyway.

I also do not have HBO and sadly have ever even heard of this series but it sounds like I should rent the series or something. Personally, I am a huge Nip/Tuck fan and we used to have little "parties" at a friends house and all watch it together, but it was awkward during some scenes I will admit. Luckily, I have FX now so I can watch it in the comfort of my own home after the kids go to bed.
