The icks

Sorry to be so silent lately. I was hit with stomach flu. Then the kids went down with chest colds and son's turned into a pneumonia relapse. Now I'm fighting the cold as well. (So don't lick your screen while you read this blog - who knows what you could catch!)

Sadly, Dayquil doesn't inspire any fun, flu-drunk posts. Mostly it just inspires me to swan dive into my flannel sheets. One thing I've learned though, when you're young - you really don't have to try that hard to look cute. Even when you're sick and wearing a ponytail there's still something attractive about you. Your little red nose and watery eyes are adorable!

But when you're in your upper 30's and get sick people say stuff like, "Yea I could tell you were getting ill. You looked terrible!". And if you go out of the house without makeup on people are startled by your vampire like pall and deep under eye circles. The only good thing is that the friends that see you without your concealer will INSIST that they watch your children so you can get some rest. In your flannel sheets. Aaaaah.

Jen - Oh my gosh what you all must think of me! I had a big fallout with a woman I thought of as a best friend. I used to write about her quite a bit on my blog. Since then I'm much more cautious about talking about my girlfriendships online. But I promise you I have real life girlfriends. Even some that are blog writers AND in my neighborhood - how lucky is that!

Sorry you're so sick!

People ask me all the time if I'm getting sick and I'm all "ummm, no why?" and then they look all flustered and say "oh you just look a little tired is all". Ouch.

Feel better!

Yes, I love when I'm actually starting to feel better and someone says, "Ohhhhh you must feel awful!"

Oh man, get some probiotics to keep on hand for the evil stomach/intestinal bugs. They're the only thing kept me alive when the green apple quick-steps struck me! (Seriously, tar-jay, about $4 a bottle and the only thing that kept me out of the bathroom.)

As for cold crud, I am all about the flannel sheets! Hope you feel better soon, as I am not gonna come up and snuggle with you! Ok...maybe if you ask REALLLLY nicely. ;o)
