What We Have Here Is A Failure To Communicate.

How I saw it

Cleaned house. Bleachy bathroom, clean sheets all around.
Took the kids to the library, did a project.
Did laundry. Actually put laundry away.
Took kids to park.
Grocery shopped with children in tow.
Photographed new jewelry.
Looked at schoolwork with kids.
Made Ribs and corn on the cob for dinner.
Ate dinner with family.
Put head on table to block out "Mommommommom" ringing in ears.
Went to office to edit, list and promote new rings for 3 hours.

How he saw it

"Nice. I have to put the kids to bed myself while you go play on the computer all night."

It's great that he had to put the kids to bed himself since you say he is often home so late that they are already asleep. Did he he also bathe them, get them in their pajamas, see that their teeth were brushed and read them stories? I hope he knows there's more than just tucking them in and kissing them goodnight!

If he's home earlier than usual, though, I'd suggest spending some time with him. Try making a pact not to talk about the kids. With all the work and worry (yours AND his) sometimes couples lose sight of what led to those kids in the first place.

It's hard to believe now, but some day it will be just the two of you again. When that day comes you don't want to find yourself living with a stranger.

you had me at grocery shopping with kids in tow. I took my son and his friend with me to the store the other day. I thought I would have a heart attack. I'll never do that again.

you are a rockstar!

Dude--if Daddy's home, Daddy does it! Period!

I can't believe you did all that in one day.

Michele - Oh he does more than me! I'm like reading the story super fast and purposely forgetting to have them brush their teefs so I can get them to sleep! He does all the good stuff plus the alphabet, numbers, etc..

Choc - I think I was cramming a week's worth of laziness into one day of productivity.

Erin - I think so too!

And in all fairness. They were just heat and serve ribs.

Hmmmm.....will it make you feel better if I go buy some rings?

Must be nice to live in their world sometimes huh? Happy Mother's Day!

Ha! I hope he was kidding.

I'm off to check out the rings!

I could, if you'd like, make a "visit" to your home and share my perspective with him. Been there...done that. I'll never forget calling my husband at work one day with 2 babies screaming. I held the phone up to their open mouths for a full minute. I hung up. He called right back and asked why I did that. I said, "Because you asked me what I did all day."

Would you please slow down!? You're making the rest of us look bad.
