Snow Baby Snow!

We're waiting for the snow.
Chicago Snowstorm 1935
The epic 2011 Chicago snow, the historic snow, the storm that is supposed to contain thundersnow and is coming our way today!

In order to prepare for the blizzard I went shopping. And as I stood behind like minded pantry stockers bearing worried expressions, their carts filled with bottled water, batteries, bread and milk, I wondered...was I buying the appropriate supplies for this pending snowstorm? Hell yes I was!

My Snowstorm Shopping List
Beer
Frozen Pizzas
Cookie Dough
Us Magazine
Condoms
Glade Candle
Chicago Snowstorm 1967
When I hear snowstorm I think of two things; that scene in The Long Winter when Pa Ingalls has to make a snow tunnel to get from the house to the barn in order to milk the cows and how awesome it will be to have an excuse to sit on the couch in my pjs for 2 days thinking about how much it would have sucked to be Pa Ingalls.

Chicago Snowstorm 1979
I hope it snows so much my husband's is forced to stay home from work, the kids get a snow day so they can jump off the roof into moutainous piles of frosty goodness and I get to stay inside eating hot cheesy carbs, reading my gossip magazine and not getting pregnant by the light of my Clean Linen scented candle. Because a snowstorm equals guilt free sloth, all day snuggling and a great excuse to eat cookie dough right out of the tube.

Update: Storm has hit and is feeling a little less cozy and a little more Stephen King's Storm Of The Century. Still eating the cookie dough though.

Hell, why wait for the snow? I'm taking my first snow day today, in honor of the ice. I might go in tomorrow, but I'm not sure yet. Of course, we're only supposed to get 8-10 inches instead of a snow mountain dumped upon us.

Areyou - Nice! I think I'm feeling cocky cause we got insulation blown into our walls this fall.

You are getting the Snowmagedon Minneapolis got on December 11th. Make sure you use the items on your list in that exact order.

Happy Snow Day!

This snowstorm is insane! Here in central MO, we got some freezing rain yesterday and the freakish heavy snow and wind has gone on all day since about 7 this morning. I'd say at least 15" so far! At times we have not been able to see the houses across the street! I thought about attaching a rope to the kid when they went out to play earlier (like Pa when he went to take care of the livestock). We made sure to hit the grocery store yesterday to get lots of junk food (bread and milk are for sissies!). I think the big snows we've had this year are God's way of making up for the super-short Christmas break we had!

Love it! Looks like you got your wish. It's crazy outside. At least we can all stop talking about the Blizzard of '79 and our kids will have some of those crazy memories now. Mine are dying to go outside and climb through it. I haven't worked up the courage yet.

Did you get the thundersnow? We didn't up here by Wisconsin, although it is really really deep. I bet we won't get back to school until Friday.
The condoms were a good idea. There were record births, (including mine) in November of '67.

Now I'm wishing I lived someplace that snowed. Guilt-free slothing all day while snuggling with my puppy, sounds like a little slice of heaven. Thighs and butt be damned.

The weatherman says we might get snow on Friday. Maybe as much as an inch! I admit to being a little excited about this.
Y'all stay warm!

I'm living about 30 minutes west of Chicago, and we got thundersnow. It was awesome. My husband (born and raised mid-westerner) had never seen it before. He was giggling like a little girl. I, on the other hand, got several phone calls from my family in California... wondering why I moved here? Maybe that's cuz they haven't seen THUNDERSNOW! ;)

Snow and lazing has been fun but we are getting stir crazy on day #2 of the snow-in! Going to see if my car will still startup so we can have an adventure. Hopefully one that does not involve triple AAA.
